Comprehensive Child Psychology Service in Sussex and Brighton

Overview of our services

Welcome to Child Psychology Sussex, a Lewes based, comprehensive Clinical Psychology Service for children and young people up until the age of 25, their parents, families, and professionals working with them.

Child Psychology Sussex offers advice, assessments and therapy that are tailor-made to the needs of individual children, young people, their families and carers. We mainly work in Sussex and Brighton, but may travel throughout the South East to deliver some of our services.

We also offer training, consultation, and supervision to professionals who work with children, including for example: teaching staff, foster carers, and residential care workers.

Our approach

We are dedicated to supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of children and young people and offer a compassionate and effective psychological service to them, their families, and the professionals supporting them.

We offer a child-focused and confidential thinking space where your child’s and family’s needs are carefully evaluated. We aim to help you and your child identify what causes and maintains the difficulties and distress you/they are facing, address them effectively, and foster resilience in your child and family by building stronger emotional self-regulation, constructive coping and communication skills, confidence, and overall resilience.

Child Psychology Sussex puts relationships and attachments as a priority. We are experienced in working with complex and sensitive issues and are committed to working in a thoughtful, respectful and collaborative manner with our clients.

Our services are evidence-based and of high quality, using sound and well-established psychological principles. We aim to provide you with a friendly, fast, flexible and wide-range of services that are now less available in the NHS.

Our approach is child-centered and family-focused:

  • We aim to create a safe and nurturing space where children, families, and professionals can express themselves freely;
  • improve their understanding of the situation they struggle with;
  • learn strategies to help them overcome difficulties they face;
  • and become resilient and thrive.

Many young people experience difficulties which impact negatively on their lives and it is not always clear to the adults around them what the best way to help is. If you want to understand better what troubles your child or the child you care for, or you are considering therapy for your child or support for your family or staff team, then Child Psychology Sussex may be able to help.

We take referrals from parents and carers, GPs, school SENCO’s and Headteachers, Social Services, Independent Reviewing Officers, NYAS and Solicitors.
